• Training picks up pace

It’s been a while since I have written an update on how training is shaping up. First ‘A’ race is Alpe D’Huez (still) and now less then 20 weeks away… In fact only 16 weeks. Which frankly is starting to feel bloody close! So what’s working and what isn’t?

  • Maximise Your Training

As I prepare for my A race this year I have decided to follow a 32 week Ironman training plan written by RGA Active. Having used one of their plans before I know they work for me. Although Tri Alpe D’Huez is a middle distance, because of the amount of climbing and generally challenging terrain,…

  • Four ways to get it wrong!

Found an interesting article on the triathlon magazine website which made me smile but also nod in a “yes… I do that” kind of way!

  • Supplements? Really??

I must admit that I bought into the “Supplement Marketing Machine” too. You know that uber expensive tub of Protein supplement for £48 that you imagine is going to rock your body’s protein needs… Just by chance I happened to check where today’s protein had come from in my diet, and I was amazed! • Sunday Night Training Ramble…

The end of week three, 11.5 hours of training and the end of my first block (next week is a ‘rest’ week allegedly!). Tiniest amount of progress and super unimpressed…

  • Thinking of venturing in the dark side of three way fun? 😉

Blatant sexism really… 😡 But putting that to one side

  • My big race for 2019

Triathlon Alpe D’Huez Lots of training to do before I get to the start line, but then that’s half the fun right? I gather that this is quite a tough race… Makes it worth doing 😉 I have yet to hear anyone describe this course as ‘undulating’.

  • Winter Training – How do you do it?

Nearly Christmas, the temperature here in the UK has fallen sharply and many of my friends have migrated in doors to their turbo’s. You will be pleased to know that this isn’t going to be another “Zwift” bashing post!! but rather a few thoughts on what I am learning about indoor v outdoor training. Would…

  • Carrying a rucksack full of water in your swim?

Really good video for correcting some common problems… Well at least they are common in my FS!! Head position, hand during the catch pushing down not pulling back and legs way to wide open (don’t go there… it’s childish!). Best tip for me in this video is to focus on correcting ONE THING and really…

  • Zwift bites back with new partnership

I am no fan of Zwift… As anyone that either reads this blog or follows my Facebook page will know only too well by now! However even I have to concede that their recent announcement; a partnership with British Cycling, does take the debate in a completely different direction. As as an ex-digital strategist, I…
