Choosing to work with me means you will receive expert advice from an experienced and highly-qualified coach.
No one training approach can suit every athlete so your programme will be individually crafted to meet your specific training needs and to accommodate your lifestyle( professional & personal commitments). In addition to a training programme, I support each athlete with mentoring appropriate to their experience and aspirations.
On signing up you will be asked to complete an online questionnaire. This helps me establish some base line information and to formulate an initial training plan. The questionnaire addresses:
- current health and fitness
- recent & preceeding training history
- your perceived strengths and weaknesses (physical, psychological and competitive)
- understand your preferences and motivations around training
Your Training Programme
Your training programme we will incorporate short term milestones, long-term goals and identify potential races. Some races will be target races and of higher importance, whilst others could be used for training focusing on particular elements of your development.
Any weaknesses in skill or technique that can be focused on to enable you to train and race more effectively will be broken down into specific sessions to give you the best chance of achieving your goals.
Your Weekly Training Diary
You will receive a weekly training plan in spreadsheet format for simplicity. What matters is the content of the plan, so I seek to provide it in a format you will find accessible and easy to use. With minimal technical fuss!
Your weekly plan will contain details of each workout, identifying the type of exercise, the duration and the intensity. All aspects of your training will be covered including run, bike (where appropriate), strength and conditioning, stretching and nutrition.
Feedback is a crucial part of the athlete-coach relationship, in additional to session specific feedback, you will also have one-on-one access to me via phone and email.
There are times when an experienced eye to look over your technique, or an extra bit of motivation for your training can nudge you back into the right direction. You do not have to be signed up to a full coaching programme: you can book these individual sessions with me (either in person or online depending on your location.
How does it work?
Book in for a session in each of the disciplines to give your training or racing a boost. We can then look at the specific issue and address this to aid your performance.
What are the benefits?
Discipline-specific training can help you to improve your technique or fitness. It will also provide you the ideas to go away feeling refreshed and motivated.
To improve bike skills wI can offer individual sessions on how to approach hills and descents, or group riding skills, especially now that draft legal races are being promoted for age-group athletes. Get a few friends together and receive expert advice on how to ride close to the rear wheel of the bike in front, or how to look through the group to see where you are going.
